Magnificent Historic & Prehistoric pocket knife

PERSONALIZATION

We provide additional engraving service for a short text of your choice.
Due to the unique and beautiful texture of the Damascus steel blade, we propose engraving on the wood box instead of the knife.

Piece of artcraft and of Prehistory, this Laguiole knife magnificent handle is made of an estimated 10,000 years old Mammoth Ivory. First, feel comfortable: the trade of Mammoth Ivory, or Molar, is legal. It is not part of the Washington Convention, aimed at protecting, hopefully, the Elephants from the atrocities we know.

Mammoth Ivory has fossilized for thousands of years in the permafrost of Alaska and Siberia essentially and is discovered from time to time with melting ice and climate change it seems. Those fossilized Mammoth Ivory defenses have kept their umatched texture and have been more or less naturally and wonderfully colorized by absorbing minerals in the course of those thousands of years in the soil. Iron oxides have given it those red - brown colors, while contact copper oxides will give it a green / blue color.

Laguiole knives are those svelte and curved lines shape type knives ornamented with a mythical bee. Their name is "Laguiole" because they were first designed and produced to address the needs of the inhabitant of Laguiole, a small village in Aveyron, in France. And historically, the true Laguiole knives were made by the Master Cutleries of Thiers, the Knife capital city of France nearby Laguiole, including Claude Dozorme Master Cutlery since 1902.

Claude DOZORME Master Cutlery has assembled its Laguiole Mammoth luxury with a magnificent Damascus steel blade, extremely hard and aesthetic with deep and visible damascus patterns. Damascus was a type of multiple layers steel used for manufacturing sword blades centuries ago in the Near East. These swords were characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be tough, resistant to shattering and capable of being honed to a sharp, resilient edge. The technics were losts and rediscovered to produce high quality and luxury knives.

Claude Dozorme Laguiole Mammoth collection is only made by its most experienced cutlers of the workshops. The Bee has been transformed into a more contemporary and design bee, the touch of Dozorme. The spring file and the plates have been manually decorated following the "guillochage" master cutlers method.

It is delivered with it leather pouch within a varnished oak presentation box + a certificate of guarantee.

Brand: Claude Dozorme

We Like: Magnificent knife, a combination of tradition and modernity, the soul of Claude Dozorme.

We Recommend: Laguiole Mammoth knives have no security lock systems (it is a forced switchblade closing system). It is always safer to carry it in its leather pocket. Do not wash with water or in the dishwasher: Claude Dozorme knife handles are made of precious components. Water will damage them. Just use a dry tissue.
