This 12cm handle is a true marvel, blending art with a rare, densified giraffe bone, an endangered and protected species. Rest assured, the few giraffe bones purchased by FONTENILLE PATAUD are legal and guaranteed to come from giraffes that have passed away naturally, not due to human cruelty or smuggling. This is certified by the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) certificate, requested by LAGUIOLE ASIA and provided by FONTENILLE PATAUD (see the certificate photo). The giraffe bone has been “densified,” a process that solidifies the bone and injects a single color dye, brown for this model. The master cutlers of FONTENILLE PATAUD have meticulously pieced, assembled, and polished this handle, making it truly unique and sublime.

Its unique diamond-shaped, sculpted handle, meticulously studded with approximately 24 studs, is unparalleled among Laguiole manufacturers. Observe the magnificent details of the traditional bee and the spring. Forged in one piece and meticulously hand-chiseled, they epitomize the artisanal high standards of Fontenille Pataud.

✰ The Blade

The ultra-sharp 10 cm blade is crafted from extremely resistant Damascus stainless steel from DAMASTEEL. Utilizing an ancient blacksmithing technique, Damascus steel combines layers of steel and carbon, offering exceptional durability and mesmerizing patterns that will last a lifetime. This elevates the piece to the pinnacle of aesthetic excellence, exuding a strong and distinctive personality.

✰ The Lock-Back system

Thanks to its lock-back system, the blade remains safely locked while open and in use. To unlock the mechanism and fold back the blade, simply press the stainless steel appendage at the lower extremity of the handle and push the blade back inside. 

Fontenille Pataud folding knives come with a lifetime guarantee, while table knives and corkscrews are guaranteed for 5 years. These guarantees cover any potential manufacturing defects but do not include normal wear and tear, misuse, or accidents. However, the Fontenille Pataud workshops offer comprehensive maintenance and repair services for any damaged or worn parts, including blade re-sharpening, tightening, and handle repairs.
