Damascus steel is extremely hard and aesthetic with deep and visible damascus patterns. Damascus was a type of multiple layers steel used for manufacturing sword blades centuries ago in the Near East. These swords were characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be tough, resistant to shattering and capable of being honed to a sharp, resilient edge. The technics were losts and rediscovered to produce high quality and luxury knives.
In this modern Design, Claude Dozorme has paid a tribute to this wonderful technics with a superb sharp damascus blade, but as well by uncovering partially it as magnificent damascus handle, cut in a very modern design. To make the balance perfect, Claude Dozorme has covered the top left side of the Damascus handle with a warm beautifully cut piece of Ram horn. Ram Horn has those very authentic brown, black and white colors and shades variations, and an embossed design. Ram Horn was and is still used to produce the "Shofar", the world oldest wind instrument, a highly symbolic instrument to antique civilizations.
This knife is a "Thiers". Thiers is a type of knife (as Laguiole is another one) made in Thiers, the Cutlery capital city of France, which actually and historically has always produced the famous Laguiole. The Thiers knife characterizes by its slightly round aerodynamic handle and blade shape, a bit like a shark feeling, ready to cut!
It is delivered with it leather pouch within a varnished oak presentation box + a certificate of guarantee.
