In 2025, Forge de Laguiole discreetly introduced a new luxury line: the Collection Series.
Unique Craftsmanship: Each piece in this series features a fully hand-chiseled beeand spring, with distinctive patterns and artisanal details that make every corkscrew truly one-of-a-kind.
Damascus Elegance: The Damascus edition includes a stunning foil cutter blade crafted from Damascus stainless steel, renowned for its exceptional hardness and mesmerizing layered patterns.
Damascus steel, historically used in sword-making in the Near East, is celebrated for its flowing water-like motifs and legendary durability. These blades were known for being tough, shatter-resistant, and capable of holding a razor-sharp edge — qualities now reimagined in this refined corkscrew design.
⋆ Craftsmanship and Heritage
All Forge de Laguiole corkscrews are meticulously handmade at the forge in Laguiole, France. Each piece is assembled and polished by a single dedicated craftsman, ensuring exceptional quality and attention to detail.
These sommelier knives are forged from premium French T14 stainless steel, produced in-house by Forge de Laguiole’s blacksmiths. This steel is known for its outstanding durability, making the corkscrews ideal for intensive use by both wine professionals and passionate amateurs.
The forge is authentically located in the village of Laguiole, birthplace of the world-renowned knives dating back to the 19th century.
Most Forge de Laguiole corkscrews feature the traditional shepherd’s cross engraved on the handle. According to legend, shepherds would plant the blade of their knife vertically into their bread, forming a cross with the loaf — a symbolic gesture that served as a focal point for prayer during solitary moments in the mountains.
⋆ Functional design
The conical spiral, designed with five turns, ensures optimal performance — especially when opening delicate corks from the finest vintage wines. Its geometry allows for smooth insertion and minimal cork damage.
The non-serrated blade delivers a clean, precise cut and is easy to sharpen over time. Additionally, it doubles as a bottle cap opener, adding versatility to this refined sommelier tool.
⋆ Engraved Cape – “Pinot Noir” Edition
The “Pinot Noir” series features a beautifully engraved cape — the upper part of the lever — adorned with a new, exclusive pattern.
This design is inspired by the flowing shapes of vine branches and the delicate, foamy leaves of the iconic Pinot Noir grape variety, evoking both elegance and nature’s artistry.
⋆ Handle Material
This corkscrew features a handle made from stag antler sourced from Northern Europe, offering a natural texture and a distinctive, elegant appearance.
Model available in shiny finish only, highlighting the engraving’s depth and refinement.
